Space Defender DevLog


Day1

We decided to make a space tower defense game (inspired by the game Plants VS Zombies). We racked our brains for a while and we decided to go with the concept of the Dyson's sphere. We made some diagrams to have an idea on wat the game should look like and  wat basic features it should have.




Day2

We made prototypes of the different defensive ships and enemy ships and discussed about the game logic.

Day3

We made menu and designed levels and few other GUIs.


Day4

We used Kenney assets to make the different types of defense and enemy ships. Added the action of placing ships, sell ships. Added shooting mechanics for few different ships and added damage system to both defense and enemy ship.

Day5

 Added different types of ships.  And we learnt how to make a 2D star with 3D effects.

         : Defender Ship acts like a wall

                            : Defender Ship, Shoots laser and slow downs enemy ship
   : Offensive Ship, Deals double damage.

       : Offensive Ship, Deals Single damage.
    : Offensive Ship, Shoots Multiple Missiles and hits multiple targets.

Day6 and 7

Unfortunately we had to complete 3 University projects that had to be submitted by the end of day 7 so we made no progress :'( .


Day8

Since this is the last day and we wasted 2 whole days,  we had to do a laundry list of work for the game to reach a satisfactory level of polish. We could only add money system, ship selection system, made the graphics lil better and fix few bugs and submitted a version that wasn't up to our minimum standards...
 

After the submission too we continued to work on the game. We are still new and so we would really appreciate it if you play our finished  game and give us some constructive criticism in the comments!
